Introduction
Hydraulic Mulch Seeding is the process of spraying a specially mixed slurry comprising of Water, Seed, Mulch, Fertiliser plus a Binder all in just one operation and can be carried out throughout the year.

Individual mixtures (grasses, legumes, wildflower & herb, tree & shrub seed) can all be applied with a variety of mulches; wood fibre, jute fibre etc, together with organic tackifiers, fertilisers and trace elements to establish vegetation on inhospitable sites.

Additives to the hydroseed mix such as plant hormones, polymers, additional erosion control tackifier, soil amendments and microbial bacteria, enhance germination to create the ideal growing environment that increases moisture retention, promotes soil stabilization, provides valuable nutrients and helps fight disease. This is the future of growing grass!

Advantages Over Conventional Seeding

Hydroseeding is intended for use when either the area is too large, inaccessible or unsuitable for conventional seeding and when results are required fast!

No matter how large or small the project, Hydroseeding is an extremely cost effective and successful method of establishing new vegetation.

Land Stabilisation & Erosion Control
The critical implications of this important aspect are fully understood, we are able to apply tried and tested solutions
to this problem using the following techniques;

Jute Stabilisation - HBRS

Our 'Hessian Blanket Retention System' (HBRS) is a low cost and effective method of giving extra stabilisation to embankments prone to surface erosion.

The area is initially seeded, covered with a biodegradable jute blanket and then pinned, finally after a trench is excavated at the top and bottom of the embankment (space permitting) the surface of the blanket is hydroseeded.

HBRS prevents surface erosion until the grass sward is established, meanwhile any heavy rainfall is dispersed by the weave of the hessian.

Within 12-18 months of applying HBRS, the blanket has decomposed. The light brown colour and make-up of the hessian means that it is more aesthetic and environmentally friendly than any other system.

For samples of the different types of hessian blankets please contact us.

Fibre Glass Reinforcement

Fibre Glass Rovings are floated onto the embankment with compressed air. The matrix of fibres is then hydroseeded with the glass fibres becoming an integral part of the root structure.

Geo-textiles, Gabions & Crib Walls

Various products supplied to the civil engineering industry to retain embankments, drainage ditches etc, can be hydroseeded after construction as the seeds are able to penetrate the reinforcement material and then germinate.

Individual Seed Mixtures
No two sites are alike and for every project there's an individual seed mix. We are able to cater for almost any requirement taking into account factors such as climate, soil type etc.

Our long term commitment to research and scientific collaboration has enabled us to play a major role in the market development of this important element.

Two ways in which the choice of seed can transform and enhance the environment are illustrated below;

Tree & Shrub

A cost effective method of establishing trees and shrubs onto steep slopes and inaccessible areas.  The seeds are added to the mulch and with minimum maintenance, tree growth of up to five metres in height can be achieved within just seven years.

Ideal for preventing erosion and reducing ground subsidence of steep slopes whilst remaining a cost effective way of creating a natural blind and providing shelter for wildlife.

Wildflower & Herb

Various mixes of native flower and herb can be added to a low maintenance seed mixture to provide an annual display of colour.

The best time for sowing these mixtures is at the end of July and beginning of August, when the soil is warm and germination is rapid.

A perfect way to establish habitats that will not only encourage new wildlife but also benefit the environment too.
